AFRO FUTURISM PHOTO SHOOT!

I had the pleasure of styling my first photo shoot this semester. The theme was afro futurism, which to me means looking at your future while not forgetting your past. We used the photos as as the promotion flyers for our Spring Formal event, put on by ABUSUA, an organization on campus for the empowerment of African Americans at our school.  This was one of the most fun times that I had at school all year. I was approached earlier in the semester and asked to be the stylist and of course I said yes! The vision for the shoot was bright colors, historical tribal markings from each persons familial lineage, and outdoor scenes to juxtapose the well put together outfits. The weather tried to get the best of us, but we were able to get each model photographed and videotaped! I truly got to channel my inner artist, with the painting of faces, dying of hair, styling of outfits, and most of all pulling everyone out of their comfort zone and into new fashionable spaces. Here are a few of the photos unedited, that I took throughout the shoot. Hope you enjoy!
